10% water change after 2 years

My tank is fine. I was wondering is there any benefit to doing a 10% water change after not doing a single water change for about 2 years?

Only if the water chemistry requires it. High nutrients, missing trace elements, or trying to remove a toxin? If so, then yes it will benefit...if not, then no :)

If it didn’t happen in two years, likely is not about to start.

I haven’t done an formal “siphon water out, replace with new sw” in probably 8 years.

I do lose water from acclimating fish and corals and need to replenish with new sw occasionally. I do replace evap with fw top off. If your parameters (trace included) are good, fish and corals healthy then I don’t see why you would need to do one

For most possible issues with the existing water, I would not assume one 10% change will make much difference.

On the other hand, doing it and seeing the result in your specific tank is worth more than a dozen different predictions.

It’s really cool to see someone else’s S1000 and what they chose to do. I just got mine the beginning of this year and I’m not set on my rock work 100% yet, but this is the current status. I didn’t get it all cleaned up for the pictures but here is mine now. I’m clearly a bit more into fish than corals but it is nice to see what mine could be in a couple of years through yours.

In a lot of reef chemistry decisions, trying something and seeing the effect is the best way to know if something is useful.

It’s really cool to see someone else’s S1000 and what they chose to do. I just got mine the beginning of this year and I’m not set on my rock work 100% yet, but this is the current status. I didn’t get it all cleaned up for the pictures but here is mine now. I’m clearly a bit more into fish than corals but it is nice to see what mine could be in a couple of years through yours.

Gorgeous tank… mine is not a s1000 it’s a 180 rimless by. Rystal dynamics and the stand is the aluminum steel stuff and I just added the cabinets
