Hi guys I am planning a tank upgrade for next year but I want to start collecting the fish now and cycling my rock. I was thinking of getting a 100 Gallon tub like you see below and getting my fish live rock and a filter and wave maker and heater and letting that be that until I get my better tank. My question is because this is essentially a fowlr tub. What filter should I use?

Maybe just a simple canister? Since it won’t have corals or a reef light. Just regular basement lights

You should grow mangroves in it! I've seen people convert those tubs into lagoon style mangrove tanks and they are pretty awesome

If you are looking for a simple approach. I would just do a canister filter. Unless you can find a HOB that could fit the width. Otherwise just drill some holes and do a simple sump setup.
Def doing cannister lol I’m excited about this Fowlr tub

I used one as a hospital tank for several months and it worked great. I also used it to store live rock and used it as an observation tank later. I used a hob and a canister filter, couple of powerheads, heater and cheap controller. I had some old black box lights so I hung one but fish don't require much light just a day/ cycle.
