Roger, just cleaned my 1073.040 return pump. It has been running for nine months now, second cleaning.
Just noticed this. I need to get a new one asap. No issues but the plastic is cracked and their is fluid in the case exposed to the magnet. Its late so I will run it until saturday and put in a temp cheap pump.
Here is a pic.

Are you sure you have a 1073.040? The US model 1073.040 the impeller is yellow. Can you email me a copy of the receipt and a photo of the label on the pump? [email protected]

OK, it is a much older one, that box is two packaging generations back, please just get me a copy of the receipt. As long as it was purchased as a new product less than 2 years ago we would replace the impeller under warranty.

Thanks Roger! I received and installed the 1073.040 impeller a few days ago. It sure looked different than the original.
I recommend all Tunze products and have converted a few to the "Tunze side" lol
Carx & media, skimmer, return pumps, ato, and powerheads, I use them all.
Great products! Thanks again for your support.

Thank you, and I am sorry for my original disbelief, but I think you can see as they have been made for several years now the plastic is much thicker and harder and we really don't encounter split magnets anymore.
