Hello fellow reefer,
About a year and a half ago, I purchased two Jecod DMP-30 pumps from BreezeAqua on Aliexpress. Up until recently, both pumps had been running flawlessly.
They provided excellent flow, were reliable, and overall I was very happy with the purchase.
A few weeks ago during cleaning, I noticed issues with both wet sides. After taking them apart, I found that the magnets had corroded internally and expanded slightly. The expansion placed some stress on the plastic housing, which resulted in cracking of the wet-side casing.
What I still can't say for certain is what came first. Did moisture somehow get into the magnet assembly and cause the corrosion, which then expanded and cracked the housing? Or did the housing develop a crack first, allowing water to reach the magnet? The cracks appeared along the visible molding/fusion line on the original design, so it's difficult to know exactly where the failure originated. Either way, the two issues seem closely related.
I contacted BreezeAqua and shared photos along with my observations. I suggested that there might be room for improvement in both the magnet enclosure and the housing itself, especially around the molding/fusion line that appeared to be a potential weak point.
To their credit, they were very responsive and told me they would pass the information along to the manufacturer/factory. I honestly didn't expect much to come from it, but a short while later (few Weeks) they informed me that some changes had been made and sent me the updated version of the wet side.
When the new unit arrived, some differences were noticeable.
The first thing I noticed was that the magnet appears to be better protected and encapsulated than before. Obviously only time will tell how it holds up long term, but it definitely looks like attention was given to this area.
The second thing that stood out was the housing itself. The visible molding/fusion line that was present on the original version is no longer apparent on the revised one. The finish looks cleaner (Stronger) and more uniform overall, and the housing feels slightly more refined than the previous version.
One small downside I noticed is that the rubber suction-cup piece used to attach the wet side to the glass appears to be slightly thinner than on the original version.
I've now been running the new wet side continuously for about 48 hours. That's obviously nowhere near enough time to evaluate long-term durability, but so far it has been operating perfectly—quiet, smooth, and with no issues whatsoever.
For reference, I've attached photos showing:

2.The failed wet side showing the housing damage and expanded magnet.
3. The revised wet side with the updated housing and improved magnet protection.
I thought this was worth sharing because a lot of us are always looking for affordable alternatives in the hobby (that won't leach heavy metal in the tank).
Overall, my original pumps gave me roughly 18 months of trouble-free operation, and based on the improvements I've seen in this revised wet side, I'm optimistic about the long term durability of this product.
If you need to replace your wet side, il would suggest to ask for the newer version.
