Any issues with maintenance of the tank at that height? Do you have to stand on something to reach into the tank? I'm 6' btw for reference.

I am 6 feet tall as well. No real issues with maintenance. I can easily reach the bottom of the tank using a step stool. My last tank was 30 inches deep and was about the same height off the floor which made it a little bit challenging to reach the back of the tank.

I spruced up the electronics compartment. I ended up adding some strip leds from amazon and covering them with acrylic that I painted to match my color scheme.

@Matthias7 this looks amazing! Love the look of that stand! Cannot wait to see how this comes together!

Thank you Joel my goal with this build is clean lines. I am still planning on leaving the stand open. This setup is way quieter then my last so I think it will work

I will make the end on the left my electronics compartment. I will install a board to mount everything and some pc fans to keep things cool.

I should be plumbing this week. My plan is to keep it very neat and leave the stand without a front door. I will keep to a color scheme it will be blue/black/grey.

"Knocked together a stand" lol.

I don't usually pay much attention to stand design, but you have two novel features I think are really cool.

1) The inset top for the tank to sit in is awesome. I never thought of that, but I like it. What material is the top made from?

2) Open sump cabinet is also novel and I can think of 100 ways that would be helpful. I do have a trigger sump but don't get to show it off. But then again, my fuge is a mess half the time so just as well.

Great build!

@ScottB thank you. The top is 1/2 inch birch plywood. I was able to get a really nice finish on it because i have a nice paint sprayer.

I am really excited about the open concept for the sump area. We pay a lot of money for our gear and the design of the gear is awesome so I am glad I will be able to show it off.
The bonus is the ventilation.

I was able to get the apex up and running this evening. I do have some cable Managment to handle behind the board it’s not terrible but could be better. A few more power bricks and one more mp40 to get situated and most of the electrical will be done.

Found a skull decor that is suitable for saltwater. I sealed the bottom half with a piece of acrylic. I am going to use this as a wrasse den since the tank is bare bottom I will put some sand in the bottom.

@c.poindexter thank you

Parameters looking ok. Ammonia is half of what it was yesterday so I believe I am getting close. My conductivity probe may need to be replaced it had a hard time with auto calibration so we will see

I put 2 small fish in this weekend a bristletooth tang and a rainfords goby. I will snap a picture if they stop hiding. I also added a tester coral a few days ago. Has good polyp extension. The color is poor but I purchased it that way.

I am starting to move over some livestock from the frag tank. I will start moving the fish over soon as well.
