Where i want the 150g tank is on the 2nd floor. It's 2x10 or 12 I joists on 18" centers. I believe there is a joist right up aganst the wall. And the span support beam is 6x16"(?).
The tank would straddle the support beam almost dead center.

The tank is 48x24x30 and the welded steel stand is 60x24x41 tall.

Better than in the middle of the room for sure.
I would suggest a stand that has a solid perimeter base. Not something with feet.
A solid perimeter base would help spread the load.

Does the stand have leveling feet?
The issue with feet is the weight of the tank is focused on a very small area under the feet.
A solid perimeter base spreads the load in to a greater area and across multiple joists

The feet are removable. I was also thinking about placing it on a wood 3x6 sheet of plywood.

The engineer came out today. He needs to crunch some numbers, but he's optimistic that the tank will work where I want it. He just needs to crunch numbers to make sure.

Why is the stand 60”? Are the bases of the 24” panels unsupported?

It was part of a MUCH bigger system. The 150, a 225, and a 1200.there were 2 of these stands for the 150 and the 225 that were next to each other. The 1200 was in a different room.

Oh for sure! My grandpa who wrote specs looked at it and was like its good. And he had been doing that job for about 70 years so I trusted him!

All i joists need them when they sit on a beam or a wall. This is required by the manufacturer because their engineers who design the i joists know better. It can be 2x4 (or larger) standing upright or plywood added to the web. Most framers know this and do it but not all.

For the spreading of load, I put a 225 with steel stand and sump, all weighing probably 3500lbs on a floating vinyl floor. The trick is to spread the load. I put the feet of my stand 72x30 with 6 feet on six 3/4” thick steel plates, and then under that is a 2x6 laying face down. The psi calculated is reduced from 600lbs to around 12psi. For me the floors capacity is 70psi dead. I’m on a basement slab, but the idea of spreading load is similar.
