180g water change ?

Tank is 180g. I change 30g every other week

Parameters fine-nitrates 12, alk 8, mg 1420, calcium 440, phosphate .12-.18-corals seem fine-softie/lps/zoa

My lfs is closing… , usually bought pre mixed there

1)those with 180g or around there what is your water change schedule

I’d make my own but don’t have a mixing station on my main level(tank sits on main level)

Basement is only option but no water in basement, and would need to then pump water up-what would I need-just doesn’t seem feasible

You have a 180g and don’t make your own water??

Basement mixing and pumping up is how numerous people do it! It’s quite feasible!

Have you done any looking into a RODI system yet?

Ro/Di tubing is very easy to run. Set up a rodi system below the sink, theres fittings to tie into the plumbing already there. Drill a small hole and fish your 1/4" line down to the mixing station and add a valve. As far as pumping it upstairs goes.... my sump is in the basement so I have zero experience but its definitely doable

A return pump to go up 1 floor is pretty common. water line seems to be your biggest hurdle, but a long garden hose and adapter for rodi seems simple enough if you really wanted to make RODI water.

The cost of a plumber to run a line should be cheaper than buying it and hauling it home from your LFS over a few months, unless your LFS was not charging you anything for yours.

Thats why im trying to figure iut what needs to be done to set up a mixing station in the basement -i sure i can get a plumber to get a water setuo in basement


Which would be fine then i can make water down there-just need to pump it upstairs to tank

On my 90g, I use an Iwaki MD55RLT to pump water up from the basement during a water change. I have the pump powered by an Apex outlet; I use one of the feed cycles during cleaning, and it is set so that the ATO float switch instead triggers the makeup water pump as I drain water out with a siphon.

That’s a LOT of pump for just moving water around!! Was it a case of “I’ve got it laying around”?

My water volume is in the 200-250 gallon range. I change about 1% daily automatically using 2 BRS 50 mL per min dosers.

I store new salt water in 2 x 44 gallon brute cans plumbed together.
