Maybe someone can help me with this

My Phosphate is at 1ppm!
Seems to be getting higher weekly
algae on glass is Comming back everyday
Water looking slightly cloudy also
Tank is 1.5 months old
All other parameters seem to be ok

How do I lower it?
I Just put some chemi pure elite in
should I add PhosBan-L?

I believe phosphate is leeching from rock because I used previously live dry rock that wasn’t cleaned and there is lots of organic material Comming off, it’s constantly being disturbed by my emerald crab

I also notice a lot of waste Comming from my emerald crab and it’s hard to clean up off sand without disturbing the sand bed

I was planning on adding my first soft corals this weekend but not sure if that’s ok with high phosphate

"Previously live dry rock"...can you elaborate on that please. Did you grab a better test kit as was recommended in a previous thread?

I would not take the 1ppm as accurate as that is extremely high for such as short time period, could be correct, I would double check it with a hanna checker before taking action.

I’d use Phosguard and replace every 3-4 days

Or just remove the rock, sounds like the op knows that is the issue, for such a young tank seems daft to carry on with rock you believe is a huge issue.

As said before, get a Hanna test kit. Also, my. 02, use rodi water and do 20% water changes for the next few weeks, again, use rodi water. This should clean up rising levels on all fronts

I second this seeing new tank anyways. Previously live rock sounds to me that it was live then removed and left to dry out, then placed in a new tank. This explains the debris op is talking abt with the crab. Rock is just oozing phosphate now if this is the case.
