It looks great! Good job! I am also in the process of building my first tank but it's taking me longer than expected. Didn't know how much stuff I was going to need lolHere goes some pictures of the setup. Issues I have been having is the water level in my pump area is getting low every 2-3 days so I’m either going to buy an ATO reservoir or use the existing one to save me a day or two on the refill. I’ve been making my own water which has been solid. Also my skimmer is super bubbly but the threads seems to say it can last a week or so.
haven’t hooked the lights up yet due to having the right surge protector.
besides that how do I beat the condensation inside the door?
thanks the warm welcome and the help.
Thanks. I’m right there with you. Everyone that has shared advice includes the word patience with Im trying to exercise that.It looks great! Good job! I am also in the process of building my first tank but it's taking me longer than expected. Didn't know how much stuff I was going to need lol
I was inspired somewhere to get a saltwater tank. Starting researching. Red Sea seemed like a good company. Searched locally and found a tank on eBay. A Red Sea reefer 250 v3.
didn’t realize all the accessories needed.
I bought 2 Red Sea 90s for the lighting , a simplicity 1000 return pump , reefmat 500 I think for filtration , a Red Sea skimmer , 2 vortex 40 , and a 4 stage RODI to make the water. I’m in the water making state currently with the Red Sea salt mix.
also bought the mod kit for the Reefmat so hope to start on that shortly. Probably will be buying a power strip , something to clean the glass , and something to test levels. I’ve been looking around the forum but any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the info.Welcome! Glad you joined. Sounds like you are already doing all the right things. Don't forget to add TOWELS to your tank supplies. After my wallet recovered from initial sticker shocks on things I really needed, eventually I treated myself to towels in the color to coordinate with my fish area room color - I'm so proud of those - I even use one as a "rug" on the tile in front of tank.
When it comes to glass/acrylic scrapers, hands down my favorite brand is Seachem because theirs is neutrally buoyant. While this may sound insignificant, drop a regular scraper and bash your favorite fish or whatever and suddenly if you accidentally let go and it FLOATS - well, you'll completely understand why I love Seachem scrapers! I have the extra short as well as longest model. I tried to only have long one, but I love my shorty one a LOT - glad I finally got it too!
Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)
