So I have seen quite a few people with a single AI prime over a 20x20 cube. I am looking at an 85 gallon that is 48x20x21. I am thinking about putting two Primes over the tank. Eventually I would like a mixed reef. I have heard the spread on these can effectively go to 24".

Anyone with real experience with these on a bigger tank? I have tried searching for actual real life (not their websitePar levels but not a lot of info out there that I can find.

Suggestions? Advice?

I considered them for my 73 gallon, which has very similar dimensions (mine is 47 x 21 x 20), but I decided they were underpowered. I went with two AI26s instead. If I change anything, it will be to add a third AI26--now that I have it set up, I certainly wouldn't go the other way. I don't think the primes have the depth penetration for a tank that big. Just my $0.02.

Good advice. Thanks! I am concerned that they don't either. However, I haven't found the data to say either way.

i have a 90 sps tank and went with 2 hydra 52 hds couldnt be happier, can keep any coral anywhere in the tank and will still work for my future 120g upgrade

since these guys are not cheap i try and buy stuff that will still be useful whenever i upgrade
