I have an 85 gallon flat back hex, Tenecor acrylic tank, 0.375" thick reef tank. I have a velocity T-1 pump with two Koralia 2 pumps, facing towards the front of the tank, and my return line comes up my return in the back middle of the tank, then T towards each end of the tank.

I run a Neptune Apex Lite reef controller, what would that do for me? With that control, should I go for the 2nd generation W ES models or the 1st generation models?

My tank is mostly softie, zoa, and LPS, with a few encrusting or plating montiporas, so I don't need a ton of flow. I have read a bunch of opinions on these pumps, ranging from getting two MP10's and running them synched together, running one MP40, and even running two MP40's synched.

I went to the Ecotech website and found their flow calculator. Granted, it is designed for rectangle tanks, and now flat back hex's, but I figure it would be a good start. Here are the different recommendations.

Two MP10's - Seems like my best bet

One MP40 - Seems like a good option but I'd lose synch mode

Two MP40 - Seems like too much flow

How thick is your glass. I have a non standard size (70gl) and my glass is to thick to use an mp 10.

then again, why buy an mp40, If your just gonna throttle it back?. Kind of a waste of $400+.

I vote 2 mp10's
