The first pic is the real red banded trochus snail, I believe the other one is labeled as trochus (and may be a sub species) but just from a different collection area . If you order from live aquaria you would get pic 3 . In my experience #1 are better , mine lived longer , spawned all time and can right themselves . They can also throw a hermit crab with their spin lol

i see people say they huge and bulldozers, maybe they mean the mexican version as see this mentioned sometimes.
Mine look like in picture 3
The ones labeled as Mexican turbo usually have a all grey shell. Don’t get as big as the Zebras. Mini dozers!! The Mexican turbo don’t seem to live long for me. The zebra in the photo I’ve had for a few years now.
While they may not have quite the appetite as the turbos, many reefers would prefer 2 or 3 trochus to 1 turbo.
It’s good to have a variety of snails. Day shift and night shift algae eating crew!!

2 years + isn't unreasonable. Trochus radiatus seems to have a max size of about a nickel if that helps judge adulthood. As I mentioned in an earlier post, these tend to reproduce well so with proper conditions you could have some long term.

Don’t worry they will grow! Mine were small at one time. IMO snails should live for years. My oldest snail is 7 years, a Cerith snail.

Zebra turbo is what I’ve seen them called. Nocturnal and get big. This is a small one!
Soo true. They literally buldoze through algae
