I’m currently planning to diy an AIO and I’ve got some questions,

Stocking (planned)
yellow head jawfish
clown
falco hawk
royal gramma or swissguard basslet

corals
mostly LPS and softies as well as some nps.

Chambers (r to l) , the aio sumo is on the back wall

Chamber 1
filter sock
filter floss
carbon or chemipure

Chamber 2

heater
skimmer (maybe??)

chamber 3

Live rock rubble
a bit of sand (small acrylic piece avoiding sand to spill into the other chambers
chaeto
small grow light

chamber 4

small air stone just to add extra oxygen as I might have an anemone
return pump (aqua one 105)

Questions

Where to put the skimmer?
would the sand work?
could I hook up a small jebao dosing pump later on? Which chamber would it dose to?
could I drill holes instead of slits for the overflow?
will the 2500l/h aqua one 105 work for flow as well as the return? Would I need a powerhead?
What skimmer? Its between the aqua one mini skim, the coralife biocube skimmer and macro aqua m - 50 mini hang on

Thanks

hi when i biult my aio i had the following setup and it worked very well. 1st sock with porous media below it, 2nd skimmer sitting on bio bricks to get the height, 3rd left over live rock and a "water filter" reactor with carbon and gfo mixed together. 4th return pump witn ato and uv when needed... I didnt need a heater..

The skimmer i decided was macro aqua m - 50. It seems decent and reviews say its good. And its hang on so wont be taking giant amounts of space. And my lfs sells live rock cheap. I might actually copy your build :p. The heater will be with either in the chaeto section or with the protein skimmer. Might get an ato.
Skip the clown.
Do you mean the clownfish? As I actually do want one, my lfs sells designers cheap. (as far as saltwater fish go btw)

Erm, they do? I thought only maroons did? Either how I still will be getting em as my little brother wants a “nemo” in my tank. Also, will the tri color wrasse and Midas be fine? It’s a 20 long btw.

I have these fish in my tank and why I like them. I like to have fish for different parts of my tank.

Swissguard basslet for fish that swims around rock work
Yellowhead Jawfish for fish that live at bottom of tank
Yellow coris wrasse for mid tank movement and pest control
Let these settle, Then decide on other fish.

I like the way you think about stocking fish that will use different areas of the tank to reduce competition.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
