20 gallon long build

So a couple months ago i decided i anted to upgrade from my lil 3 gallon pico ive had a lil over a year. so black friday i picked me up a 20L an started to figure out how i wanted to build it.


day 1 i painted the back glass black.

few days later after talking to some folk i ordered a over flow kit from gl*******s.com

after drilling the hole and getting it all installed

took an old 10 gallon i had and used it to make the sump. had glass cut for me at lowes cost me bout 10 bucks for 4 peaces.

id finally got the money to order my stuff for the return but i got impatient waiting for it to come in so i started some of the plumbing.

also while i was waiting i decided that i was ganna do a bare bottom tank so i painted the bottom to mach the back

then my goodies finally arrived

few days later all my pumps an new led light showed up. early Christmas gift from the gf :bigsmile:

got the rest of the plumbing done an gave her test run to see if the mag 3 was ganna be to much or what

had to figure out how i was ganna hang my light didn't want to hang it from the ceiling with cables. so i decided id weld some **** together to make it work....... sorry about the pic being sideways idk why some are that way an others arnt.

i then ordered 15 pounds of the reef saver dry live rock from bulk reef supply. i got 4 nice peaces

my buddy told me i should acid dip the ock to make sure it didnt leach phospates an things of that sort so i started looking up how to do it. [video] http://youtu.be/GpwlUGWdBXo[/video]

then on the 4th i filled her up an took some the coral line encrusted rock out of my pico threw it in the sump along with a good bit of the sand too.

its now day 10 of it running have some hair algae that has started to grow. hopefully doesnt get to bad.

Thats something ive noticed. My buddy that got me in to saltwater tanks always tells me nothing good ever happens fast in saltwater
