I went back up.and looked at your wrasse list again, the Melanurus will need sand. I think the others listed dont require it
Thanks for checking, and hopefully with the sand a decent amount of rock with sand around it as well so hopefully that's enough for it.

What about one of the bristletooth tangs, yellow and look into a foxface? Great algae eaters, good temperament and are a large pretty fish
Agree on the Magnificent vs yellow. SO with all that these are the changes I made to the main post.
  • Remove the Blue hippo and go with either a convict tang, I like that over the lavender tang
  • Go with a Magnificent Foxface of the yellow
  • Change the Kole tang to convict tang
That all makes sense to me but if I messed that up and put things that wont at least have a chance to play nice let me know and thanks again for all the help!

You would still be fine with the yellow if you wanted to do one

Yellow Tang
White Tail Kole Tang
Magnificent Foxface

And if you want another tang, just introduce them at the same time. Foxface can be added later.

That makes sense and the goal is to try and add the tangs all at the same time so sorting it all out now so when the time comes can do my best to make that happen.

Keep in mind you will have to replenish your clean up crew over time. Also consider the length of time between additions - that is important. Good luck and happy reefing!

This is a good list. Personally I would skip the convict, seen them in the wild a few times and they are probably the most active tang I have ever seen. They cover the entire 4' of your tank in a second as they constantly graze algae. If you are dead set on one I would have a lot of flow to help keep them constantly swimming.

Thanks and yeah I will 100% make sure to keep an eye over time to keep the cleanup crew at a good level. I should have also added it to the first post, but I do plan on spacing this out over many months of adding to make sure that each group has time to settle and the tank to also get dialed into the new bioload.

DO you have any thoughts on the time I should wait between groups, or maybe its even different depending on what the group size / make up is?

Yeah the Tang group is proving to be the hardest and this all makes sense and I knew when starting this project that the max 4' width would limit some of my options / change what I can add.

I would love to have a good group of tangs but it does sound like the convict might not be the best addition as I can do some flow, but enough for such an active swimmer might be a bit to much for everything else. Any thoughts on what you might add over the convict, or just for with the Yellow and the White Tail?
