Congratulations on the positive IRL stuff. Have you decided on what type(s) of shrimp you will get (e.g., neocaridina, caridina, or amano)?
Not Amano's, just never been my favorite for whatever reason. So either caridina or neos of some form. I'm still waiting to hear when I will officially start my new job, but the new place is fine with the tank coming so that's covered. I gave my notice yesterday and my boss will be in town Tuesday and wants to have dinner. I know what will be talked about and I already know the answer is no. So hopefully we can move past him trying to keep me pretty fast and find out if I have to wait the rest of the two weeks or if I can go now. Once I get the tank set back up I'll start shopping around. Any suggestions on good websites to buy shrimp on?

Heyyyy... I was MIA this week too. However, nothing exciting going on like you!

Congrats on pulling the trigger to change jobs. I hope the new place is everything you want it to be! Order the surf and turf when your boss takes you out to dinner.

Smart to refi before making the job change and hope you got a killer rate!

Oh, and the tank is looking good. Sorry to hear about the guppies.

I may loose my apatite when I see the amount of money they are going to throw at me. I have already decided to say no, because I got an idea of the number and how it will be structured. They are going to offer a 1 year retention bonus, and I'm sure a small hike in pay. Thing is, this would be the second time I backed out of the deal with the new company. In a year when I get the bonus, I doubt that the job will still be available and for that reason it's not worth taking it. Either way it's going to make me sick to say no to the money, even though I know it will be worth it. Had this happened when I was 25 I would taken the money and ran, but I think I am smart enough to look 10 years down the road now.

Well it's official now, and even a little more frightening. My boss and I hashed things out last night, and I stuck to my guns and am leaving. He threw a lot of money at me and it makes me a little sick to walk away from it. I'm trying to look further down the road than I used to and I think it's the right move. The 24th will be my last day at the only job I've had as an adult. I started here when I was a senior in high school and never left.

As far as I'm concerned, whatever money he threw at you is what they should have been paying you. It's very telling that they weren't paying you what they actually thought you were worth. Good for you for not backing off. I believe you made the right decision!

I couldn't agree more, and I called the new boss and told him I was his no matter what but mentioned what they offered. He ended up coming up 10% on my salary, which didn't match what they offered but made me realize how dedicated they were to bringing me on. Biggest factor is that we got bought out almost 6 years ago and the new company has not promoted any kind of growth. We are a cash cow for a large cooperation and they let us sit stagnant for a long time just enjoying it. The new company is locally owned and is growing and wants to continue to grow, should make for some good times.

Happy for you!

Hey, don't think I've forgotten about the workout/running challenge. Without getting into detail, I will say the past almost 1.5 months has been rough with the past 2 weeks being a bear. I'm coming out of it now and will be getting back to my running.

I haven't either but I also haven't been on it. My cruise is only a couple of months away so I need to get on it. I read in the other thread whats going on and I'm sorry to hear you are struggling. Glad you are coming around.

Thanks brother!

In staying true to form, here is a song that kind of sums it up. It's never gotten any radio play and, unless you're a fan or heard somewhere else, it'll be a new song from an old, classic band.

Updates over here? Tank? New job? Weight loss? Bueller???

Hey everybody I'm back, been covered up at the new job and other things. Tank made the move good and I didn't loose anything. Move was actually easier than I thought it would be. I had quit fertilizing for about 2 weeks before I moved it. The plants stayed alive but weren't growing which was the goal. Started fertilizing again this week and the are already showing more signs of growth again. Hows everybody been?
