Third run at a reef tank with the same 24 gal nanocube. Now that I'm married and not moving around so much I decided to have another go at it.
While on my reef tank hiatus I have been keeping a freshwater tank in my cube. One of the fans on the lid started to go out and was really loud so I figured it was a good excuse to relocate my freshwater fish and get creative.
I tried to use as much recycled material as possible. The stand is made of pallets and wood "donated" by the construction trash pile down the street.

Eventually I retrofitted the PC's. Looked good for a while then decided to go the LED route before I actually started the tank. Figured it was better to do this now then to try to re-acclimate tank inhabitants. The PC's are on standby for a second/QT tank.

This is where my stand is now with my current tank cycling. Using pallets i have spent ~$20 on my stand. It's not as high quality as others I have seen, but for $20 I can try again. Next time I'll leave more room for a sump. Note: my lighting is sub par, no pun intended, but I am saving for something better! It just gives me more time to let the system cycle!

Ok! My tank hit the 1 year mark on 2/1/18 so it’s about time I post an update! I get so caught up combing through information on this site I forget to post my progress! Thanks R2R community you guys rock.
