I filled my new 240g tank and tested the water today.

Salinity: 1.026
Alk: 7.3 (Hanna, double checked)
Ca: 545 (Hanna, double checked)
Mg: 1400 (Red Sea)

I found this odd. I can see the alk being low because honestly it's really hard to slowly dump the salt in when you're holding a massive bag of salt and pouring it around the tank lol! So I can dose that back up. What caught me was the calcium -- seemed quite odd to me. From my research it won't be harmful to corals but I was curious if other people had run into this issue. There's not a lot of precipitate in the tank either.

Could adding the dry sand or rock have increased the calcium? It clouded the tank with dust that I would assume contained calcium. I dunno. (The tank is crystal clear now/when I tested)

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
