Time for a bit of an update on this.

Things are going really really well! Got a few fish (Blue Hippo, Powder Blue, Tomini, (3) Anthias, 2 Clowns, Longnose Hawkfish and a pair of blue spot gobies. Fish all get along fairly well, although the hippo is getting big FAST and likes to be a bully from time to time.

I am unsure of the reason on this, but I have noticed faster SPS growth in this tank than any tank I have every owned... Which is odd because I have literally done 0 water tests on this tank, and only 2 water changes since I set it up (things have looked great, so I haven't felt the need/want to do anything besides add coral, keep the skimmer cleaned and the chaeto trimmed.

I am definitely not much of a photographer as you can tell by the pics above, but here are a few updated pics of the tank:

Not sure the exact explanation but same thing happened with my current tank... I started SPS maybe 6wks in and for quite some time everything grew like weeds. Then of course I screwed up and allowed an alk crash to happen. Tanks all better now, things colored back up and everything's growing again but nothing like at start. Guess you can call it new tank syndrome with everything pristine. On the other hand when I started the tank I was also using MH/T5 and now LED.

And yeah I have a hippo, powder blue and purple. They bully each other and take turns terrorizing the other fish

I had a purple, its one of my favorite fish - he liked to eat coral so I got really lucky and netted him in 5 minutes and back to the LFS I went. Right around that time a friend was getting hot and gave me the blue hippo, didn't really have intentions to get one, but I have one now.

How has the reef octopus 200 elite int performed?? Does it skim wet or can you dial it in to skim a bit dryer and pull out the good black sludge?
