Beautiful tank. Mine is 27.5” deep and that’s about 3.5” deeper than is comfortable for me. I do not envy you having to do anything towards the bottom of your tank. You’ll get good with grabbers, (I have). ;)

I think this pretty much sums it up - been there a couple of days .... I really need to fish it out haha...

I was going to comment “don’t drop anything, you may never get it back” but I decided to go with a more positive message. You now understand the struggle! Get a collection of grabbers! You’ll need them.

Finally got my calcium Hanna test kit and new reagents for my alk and phosphate

I have been blind dosing using the dosages from the old tank as a base with the expectation that I would have to increase.

Happy with the calcium result won’t change the dose yet and will retest in the weekend and see if it stays stable. Not sure I’m happy with 0 phosphates but better to be low than high I suppose.

Alk was very low so I’m increasing that over the next 3-4 days to establish a base then will see how much I need to increase

Quick update on the coral QT tank - everything looking good so far 2 weeks in. Did a 50% water change a couple of days ago.

Getting good polyp extension and the CUC seem to be happy roaming around. Plenty of algae building up so hopefully they have enough to munch on for a few more weeks.

Picked up a couple of nice birds nest frags at the shop yesterday and also rehoming a nice big foxface from a friend. He’s currently in quarantine and a bit ticked at me lol but he will learn to love me!

I'll be following this thread! The dimensions of the tank are very unique, it will be interesting to see what challenges it presents you in the future.

Yep. Already providing plenty of logistical challenges currently... but I’m very happy with my choice. Just wish I could reach the bottom! I think it gives me the flexibility to keep such a wide range of corals in different zones. Can’t wait to get the SPS in there and see how they fair in the upper third of the tank.

Nice looking birdsnests and the foxface will indeed grow to love you :)

Yeah I was in awe of some of the frags in this shop yesterday so I’ll definitely be frequenting that place for sure! These two are just taste testers lol.

Teaching them young - The little one helping me out in the quarantine zone.

Update on the coral QT Tank - all is looking very well at the 4 week mark. Going to push to move a few things over to the display end of next week as I have a few more corals coming in so I’ll need to make some room haha..

Also have some wrasse arriving new week, cleaner, choats leopard and a yellow tail tamarin - very excited!

Foxface is still doing okay in QT he’s got one more transfer tonight and can go into the display in a few days

Will post some pics once the new order arrives!

First lot of new corals moved over to the big tank after a successful (hopefully) quarantine! Plus the foxface has finished TTM and prazi and went in as well - had a bit of aggression from the scribbled rabbit but they seem to be okay for now!

So with quite a few new additions coming tomorrow (corals/inverts/fish) I thought I’d better pull my finger out and make the new lids for the tank. Even though I have a few weeks up my sleeves as they will be in quarantine

I also adjusted the lighting - increased the kessils slightly to make up for the little bit of loss through the mesh plus increased the Orpheks prettty much to max for the colour I want.

Also I have added a video of all the happy fish cruising around. Still quite bare but taking it slow

Not really much of an update but couldn’t help myself to share. How beautiful are BTAs. I can’t bring myself to rehome them even though I’m going to need the realestate for other corals one day.

Those are pretty good PAR values for 36", what intensity and lighting profile do you have the Orpheks at?

Thanks yes I was pleasantly surprised considering I didn’t think I’d get 100 on the sand bed.

I am running

Channel 1 100%
Channel 2 90%
Channel 3 50%
Channel 4 30%
However I think I am going to drop channel 3 back to 30% and channel 2 up to 100% getting a fair bit of algae growth
