Hi everyone,

I have a Red Sea Nano Peninsula, coming in at 26 gal. After cycling and watching water parameters (waited over a month), I added 2 juvenile Snowflake Clownfish a few days ago. Unfortunately, one of them didn't make it. I believe he bumped into a piece of rock (looked like he had popeye but only on side) - and last night I was forced to put him down as he was clearly miserable. Starting to think the other clown was picking on him when he was vulnerable, or he was just a little clumsy, because the next morning his injuries were 3x worse. Anyways...

My LFS won't have more clowns in for a couple weeks - the only ones they have now are large adults. I stopped by this afternoon to give them a heads up about the passing so they could order more clowns for me. The other clownfish is doing great, very active and eating tons. When I was there, I picked up an azure damsel (planned on getting one a couple weeks in the future, but impulsively bought one today because of the loss of the clown).

He has been in the tank for about an hour, and they are getting along great - at least so far. Brings me to my question:

If I want to get another clown and one other fish, along with inverts - in what order should I stock them from here? Not sure what other fish species I would add besides the clown, but definitely want a cleaner shrimp and other cleanup crew counterparts.

(No corals yet BTW, but I plan on adding once the tank is more mature).

Let me know - thank you! :)

lol you asked the question one fish too late, should have added the damsel last, now it might attack any new fish you add, they are very territorial and aggressive.

I have an azure and a yellow tail in a 20, it took a long time to get them to live together but they will kill anything else I add to the tank.

Ah shoot I had a feeling. I’ve heard azure damsels are on the more peaceful side of the damsel spectrum. It’s just him and my snowflake clown now and the damsel seems rather submissive, but obviously he’s only been in there for a short while.

Do you have any advice as to how I should proceed? Thanks for the help!

That was the plan. I would like to add one more fish as well, a couple come to mind - firefish, royal gramma, etc. Any suggestions?
Firefish nope, to meek. Will not be happy.
Gramma maybe, that’s a possible, rock dweller, tough.
Orchid dottyback as an alternative to the gramma, but also a rock dweller (a.k.a) not seen much, but easily hold its own territory which is usually just a cave entrance in a quiet spot.

Shrimps either skunk or blood red or both.

Definitely going to do a fire shrimp, along with some snails. LOVE the orchid dottyback definitely going to get my hands on one. Thanks so much :)

Pleasure.
Red stunning but hides a lot.
Skunk out all the time.
You can have both.
Any pair will breed so that’s kinda neat.
If you go shrimps, make sure no hawkfish on your list.
Enjoy
