I actually upgraded from a 10 gallon to a 20 high for my 29 gallon.

My first ten gallon sump was way too small, return pump and ASM skimmer took up most of the space. I think I also had issues with not much overflow protection. I don't think it ever overflowed, but with an outtage it was very near the top. I soon switched to a plastic tub for a awhile and currently replaced my old 20 gal high sump with a better designed 20 gallon high with a refugium kit I found on ebay. Three sections, one for chaeto, one for my ASM skimmer and one for the return.

Thanks for the input I will look into the 20 and see if I have enough room under the stand
