I have a reefer 525xl with one MP40.
Going to be a mixed reef.

aside from MP40&60’s, what other models hold to 3/4” glass? Looking for minimal impeller noise so jebao is excluded from options :)

Ive read Tunze 6105 have strong magnets, anyone use them on 3/4” glass?
goal, 2 MP40’s and 2 more wave makers (under 350ea would be ideal).

Tunze magnets are awesome and work on 3/4 acrylic for me.

I have no idea what a 525xl is, but that is a lot of flow for most tanks. You can have too much. If that is a normal sized tank, like a 120 or 150, or so, then 2x of mp40 or tunze 6105 would likely be fine... but if you have a tank that really has 3/4 inch glass, then it must be pretty big.

the 525xl is a Red Sea Reefer 525xl v2. 108gl with sump I believe. Not to big, just build solid.

I just started this morning. Briefly reviewed the maxspect 350.

Do you use gyres? I’ve read they (gyres in general) make noise when pushing over 50% water volume, which is why I never looked into them.

I don’t. I have 2 mp10’s and a return pump that is a bit oversized. I am considering adding either another gyre or an mp40. I was just thinking of some other options that you might want to consider. I know gyre can also be a pita to clean. I have extra wet sides for my mp10’s, which means I o my need to switch them out and clean them as needed.

Buy a few 50mm neodymium disc magnets from ebay and add them to whatever airside you like, they are only a few dollars each, compared with buying extra strong mags from suppliers like Reef Octopus at $60 each here in Australia. The standard mags on ReefOc airsides simply suck on Op4's using on 19mm glass, personally just another way a manufacturer squeezes extra dollars from the purchaser
