Fellow reefers - My reef is 3 month’s old. The algae on the Marco Reef Saver rocks has gone from a tan color to a lime green color shown in the photo. I am looking for a best guess as to what type of algae this is and if it is an undesirable type or maybe a good type of coralline. It is not hair algae and can only be removed with a blade type scraper.

It commonly appears in a new tank and, at least in my experience, is self regulating and goes away without intervention in about a month.

Does anyone know if any invertebrates can remove this hard film green algae? I have 2 trochus snails but they don’t eat this type of algae.
