Hi, was just bouncing around the idea of maybe doing a diy led fixture for an upcoming upgrade
It's a 300 DD tank and was wondering if it's cost effective to go led on a 3' wide tank
The 300 DD is 72x36x27
How many led's would I need to get a decent spread on this wide of a tank? Trying to figure out costs
Thanks in advance
Chris

Wow, that build is intense :)
If I use the same ratio he did I would need like 275 LEDs for a 300 DD
not gonna happen anytime soon, way too much $$$
Over 1k just in LEDs and that doesn't include any of the other components
Thanks for the link btw

Keep an eye out for Ecoexotic's new 100w cannon coming out in early 2011. I'm thinking I may put those over our 300DD.

You could check out ReefKoi's 200 watt 2G LED fixtures. I use the 1G on my 30" deep tank and have no problems growing my chalices and Acans at the bottom.

The ones I have; https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/reef-koi/45696-new-299-leds-reefkoi-corals.html

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
