So here is the start of my new 300 total gallon build. I have been in the hobby for roughly 3 years with this 90 gallon tank
However now it's time to upgrade and learn from my mistakes from the last tank and do everything the right this time.
So here is the start of the project and space I had to work with
this is in the basement and a spare room we had that was used strictly for storage and a bar I 3/4 finished that took up way to much room.
So I started my demolition
I took that wall out and ripped up all the carpet
Had a little help from the wife and little guy
So after I got rid of all that it was time to put some new floor as carpet and a fish tank don't usually go well together. We went to a local flooring store and found an end roll piece 12'x17' for $200 bucks and bought some new baseboard for around $100
We had some left over paint and painted the back walls.
Unfortunately the basement was done extremely cheap (before I bought the place) and The walls were done with some ugly butt panels which I will one day redo with drywall but in the meantime this is how it's going to stay.
This is how the basement looks as of October 31,2016
The tank will be here Tuesday evening November 1st I'm super excited and can't wait.
In the meantime I came up with a plan for a floating canopy that I will be putting on a pulley system so I can raise and lower the canopy when I need to work on the tank. I really hope it turns out how I have it planned in my head.
Anyway there is the start of my build thread looking forward to see how this is going to turn out and thanks for following along. Pictures will be updated once tank arrives tomorrow. Thanks all
