Hi all,

My Name is Alex and I live in Bavaria, Germany. Welcome to my Tank build and progress thread!
First, I want to give you some details about my SPS tank, how it currently looks like and a bit of the way to get there.

Furthermore, I try to give you some more or less frequent updates.

Some recent pictures:

It is a 1150l/300g SPS peninsula Tank.

Bare Bottom with exception of a small area at the back wall for my Wrasses to sleep in.

  • Dimensions - Display:170x90x65cm
    Sump: 140x50x40
    Frag tank: 75x55x30
  • Stand - Own build out of aluminum profiles
  • Light - DT: ATI Hybrid 8x80W + 4x75W LED, 5x Ecotech Radion XR15 G4 pro
Frag tank: ATI Sunpower 6x24W, 2x Kessil A160WE tuna blue
  • Skimmer - Royal Exclusiv Bubble King Double Cone 250 + RD3 Speedy
  • Return pump - Royal Exclusiv Red Dragon 3 Speedy 150 Watt / 18,0m³
  • Flow - Display: 2x Tunze Stream3, 2x Ecotech VorTech MP40w QD, 2x Rossmont MX15200
Frag tank: 1x Ecotech VorTech MP10 QD, 1x Jebao RW4

For maintaining the main parameters, I use a Dastaco II Xtrema A3 1600L calcium reactor and a GHL dosing pump for Mg, K, Sr and Traces.

I changed some weeks ago from Fauna Marin balling light 2-part, which worked great but the demand was too high and I had some issues with my dosing pump. So far, the Dastaco works absolutely well like a Swiss clockwork!

I started the planning for my new system in the beginning of the last year with some CAD sketches, many different Ideas and options… yada yada yada this is the final version:

Beginning of June 2017, the first water went in and a week later I started to stock the tank with the first frags

That’s is stunning great job! Do you have pictures of sump and equipment layout? Would love to see everything.

Here two quick and dirty photos of my Sump.
It's not a beauty but quite functional.
I had to remove the Rollermat on the right side because of lack in nutrients.

Stunning tank! Could you pls share ATI light schedule and set of bulbs ? 4 blue+, 2 cora+, 2 aqua blue special? What is LED intensity, what program do you use for LED , maybe LPS/SPS or your own? How high do you hang the lamp? approx 25-30 cm I guess? I have the same lamp but I am not happy with my results, searching for proven setup.

Thank you!
Currently I run Aquasience bulbs but they have been discontinued.
My next bulb set is probably ATI 4 B+ and 4 ABS or maybe 4 B+, 2 ABS and 2 C+.

Here my schedule for the ATI fixture:

and the Radions.
I splitted them in two groups to create something like the motion of the sun.

I don't change the LED spectrum throughout the day except of a little blue period at the end of the day.
I have the lamps about 40cm over the surface

I’m guessing the Ecotech Radion XR15 G4 pro produces better/brighter intensity than Reef Brite leds?

Sorry I’m LED “illiterate” ... I’m old school MH & T5’s myself. Thanks

I have no idea about the Reef Brite leds as they are not available over here. But Radions seem to be very powerful.
In terms of spectrum MH and T5 is still the best option in my opinion. They dont make the corals pop so much but i think this is not what corals used to have in their natural enviroment and what they adapted to.

Wow nice equipment selection and fantastic tank. How do you like those Tunze stream 3 pumps? I am considering adding a couple to my tank.
