Well I since I took down my 10 gallon nano at work I’ve only had just this one 30 gallon tank for a while I thought it would be cool to start another tank. So I picked up a 12 gallon long mr. aqua Tank. My plan is to keep this tank as simple as possible. Equipment will be Aqua max Nemo light.
MP 10 Powerhead. And I haven’t decided what brand of heater.

Curious to hear how you like the nemo light. I am considering it for a future build.

Well so far I haven’t set up a 12 gallon tank yet but I have played around with the settings on the light. And I absolutely hate how difficult it is to program it and how limited the programming capability is. But as far as looks I really like it.

I did a water change on the 30. Everything is doing well as usual. People ask me what my water parameters are and I just tell them I don’t know. Instead of testing the water I just do a large water change. I find it is faster and easier than trying to test the water and make changes.

I have been dying to get my 12 gallon long aquarium up and running. The problem I have is making the aquarium stand. Have a very unique idea for the stand and finding the right materials has been difficult . But hopefully I can give an update soon.

Well I got tired of being so limited by my 10 gallon I decided to upgrade to a 30 gallon, still a nano but a little bit more room for fish to swim and coral to grow. My goal for this tank is to keep it simple and elegant. I've decided to go bare bottom because I've always had a problem with sand blowing around with high flow. The tank is a Nuvo black 30 gal. I painted the bottom white to make it look a little more appealing. I'm using a tunze
comline stream filter 3163 and tunze nano turbelle 6040 for flow and filtration. For heating I'm using the cobalt neo-therm heater. It is lit up with two AI prime HDs.
I wanted a different look than the typical aquarium stand so I build a wood top out of 2"x3" and stained it black. Then I bought some A-frame leg stands From ikea and set it on top of that.
Wow I thought it was sand too...R u not going to have any burrowers..lol..it will fool them too...Any crevices for shy funny fish? Lovely , lovely tank

Haha.. no Burrowing fish or critters. I just have a firefish, blue chromis and a Blenny. Oh, and a conch. All have been doing quite well for the last two years

Amazing tank!!! You had mentioned a few pages back about the correlation between Nutrients and Alk. Do you mind elaborating on that a little bit?

Thank you,
Whiskey

Ok I finally have some free time to start my 12 gal. Long bookshelf aquarium build.
First step is to find the perfect rock.

Your probably wounding why I would use rock from the desert.... I know it seems odd but i some times have have some odd ideas haha.

Man I’ve been so busy with work. I have not had much time for my hobbies. Any way I managed to find some time to drill the holes i need in the rock. One 1-1/2” hole for post that will support a plate for tank to sit on and a 5/8” dia. Hole all the way through the rock to run the wires for power. I also drilled 4 holes on the bottom of the rock to put threaded inserts for leveling feet.

I keep on following this one as it gets more and more mysterious.
Why do you need the wires to run through the rock?
