Hello everyone, Wil here.

I started a salt water aquarium 3 years ago. About a 1 1/2 ago my tank crashed with the only things surviving was a green candy cane coral with one head and a PJ. I was determined to try again. Here I am approaching the one year mark of the reboot. I'm wondering if history will repeat or if I can move past it and be successful.

I will have plenty of updates on my current equipment and the tank's growth.

Thank you for stopping by, talk to you soon.

Good evening everyone. Today I received my Nyos test kit. It took 4-5 days from Amazon. This was my first step in the right direction, I hope.! This kit tests for Alkalinity, Phosphate, Magnesium, Calcium, and Nitrates. Some of the test were a little involved, and I had some difficulty reading my Alkalinity. How often should I check my parameters? If any thing is too high or low, please let know. I stopped dosing all for reef , should I go back after checking my parameters for a week or so?

I hope these are good numbers.

Phosphate. .50 ppm
Nitrate..25 ppm
Alkalinity..18 dkh ( I'm not to sure if the is correct, it took 18 drops of the reagent to changes colors)
Calcium 1470
Magnesium 1350

Below are some pictures of the kit.

First off, welcome to reef2reef!

Do you know what happened to make it crash?

Following along!
Hi and Thank you.

I thought it might have been the urchin that died in the tank. Poor water quality and unstable temperatures. I want to try and better prepare myself this time around.

What do you think of my parameters? I'm going to check out a few videos for the Alkalinity. I want to make sure I preformed the test correctly. Any other suggestions?

Thank you everyone for reading my thread.

I've made another change or upgrade to the 32.5. I'm trying to keep the tanks temperature stable. I removed the tank lid. Now where is the light going to go? Also how do I keep the fish from jumping?

First I'm starting off with a bracket that mounts to a rimless tank. I knew this bracket I ordered was for a different model light. But I still wanted to give it a try. Lol, I had to modify the clips to hold the led in place. I removed the led from the stock lid. Then I took the old and new led clips and screwed the to each other. The next step was to clean the light with vinager and water.....Now everything must go onto the tank....Guess what? ........ it worked. I'm happy with the results. Check out the pictures below.

What do you think?

BTW ....the next update will be me customizing the black defuser on the tank. Allowing heat to escape. Before I know it , summer will be here...

Phosphate. 50

I didnt forget.. I have to show off the fans I mounted on the tank...

These fans are plugged into an inkbird controller.

Good evening, The test results I posted are from 4 days ago. Im feeding flakes at night and mysis shrimp in the morning's. The tanks temperature is only 1 degree higher, than normal. Im not dosing anything to the tank. I'm not doing anything different, but now I'm starting to see bubbles on the top of the water. I feel like this cant be a good sign.. help.
