Hello everyone! I'm Rennji the DK and here is my newly rebooted reef tank.

Here is a thread following the crash and burn of my anemone Nuvo, and the steps I took to correct it:

The tldr version is that dinos, cyano, and bubble algae overtook the tank and killed a bunch of corals and livestock. The clowns and damsel survived (thankfully), but I did lose my flamehawk, inverts, and nems. So, here we are with the new build.

I'm running 2 Ai Prime 16HDs turned slightly off center. This gives my a VERY even blanket of 150-200 par across the whole tank. I'm running a slightly modified AB+ schedule.

As for the equipment, this AIO is PACKED:

Mightyjet DC return pump
Aquael 200w heater
Inkbird controller
Bubble Magus miniQ skimmer
IM 9w UV sterilizer
IM desktop media reactor
AutoAqua Smart AWC Lite (install soon)
Kamoer WiFi dosing pump
Ai Nero 5 wavemaker
IM glass ATO reservoir
Custom glass tank lid

I'm going on vacation next week, but after I return, I'm installing the AWC and adding coral shortly after. I'm planning on an LPS dominate system with large euphyllia and goni gardens.

Here's some sump shots to end the post with:

Here's a corrected AB+ spectrum lighting schedule with reduced whites.

I'm going to try the arch in a different orientation where it doesn't slope backward. I'd really like to mount coral across it, but most of it would end up hidden.

The AutoAqua AWC sucked. I constantly had issues with it and ended up having it replaced under warranty, but didn't hook up the new one. I instead installed a Simplicity 4h dosing pump which has worked fantastically. It also gives me 2 extra heads for dosing (using one for AFR and two for AWC right now).

Also, something exciting is arriving in a week and I'm stoked to finally have coral in this system after a year.

Adam hooked it up! I really wish I was skilled at photography, so I could do these sticks justice. They look amazing in person. Now let's just see if I can keep them alive.

So it's been about a month and I've made a few changes.

Using the dosing pump as an AWC was a wash. I'm not sure why, because it calibrates correctly and is fine with small volume amounts, but when doing hundreds of ml's at a time, it becomes way off. My waste water jug was full with my NSW being only 3/4s gone. It dropped my salinity a full 1.5ppt.

The single Nero 5 is out and has been replaced with two Nero 3s for better flow. I'm still running around 1300gph, but there's a lot more movement.

I swapped the Reefbreeders Prism ATO for a spare Osmolator I had laying around for better stability. I love the prism, but on small tanks it's swinging around a pint of FW due to its sensor placement. And of course the Tunze pump failed immediately (3rd replacement), so I purchased the new upgraded version. Really sucks that I had to pay $70 for something that has been warrantied 3 times already, but I'm satisfied with it. It's whisper quiet and uses shark bite fittings like an RO unit, instead of that stupid plastic collar which cracks every 4 months. Not hearing a blender full of washers everytime the ATO fires is also a welcome change.

I stopped dosing AFR in favor of TM Balling. This was my original plan, but the AWC jugs took up too much room. I picked up a brand new set of Simplicity dosing containers and like them a lot from a design standpoint.

Frags still seem to be doing nicely. I am losing a little tissue on the two I was having issues with, but they are still alive somehow. I'm hoping the swinging parameters from the AWC don't affect them too much. I'm going to test daily until everything is dialed in and rock solid stable again.

Dropped the aquarocks today and pushed the Neros to the back wall. I'm getting a lot better flow this way with my rock scape. Still trying to dial in the flow through the myAi app.

I do think it gives the tank an overall cleaner "modern" look, which I'm going for. Especially once the frags grow out and cover the rocks.
