Not to be that guy but isn't this tank quite a bit small for a tang, correct me if I'm wrong though

I have had some forums posted about this, asking myself this same question. Don't worry, I have gotten this alot. But since I got a tomini Tang, which stays relatively small, Incase it gets too big and I see visible signs of stress, I will rehome it and get a new one. I don't like to rehome fish, but if it doesn't show signs of stress from the small tank, then I will keep it.

Agreed. So far in the three months I have kept it it hasn't grown much compared to my other fish. Both clowns were about an inch when I got them, and now the male is 2 inches and female is 3 inches. Both springeris are 1 1/2 inches when I got them and now are 2 inches. Royal Gramma was 1 1/2 inches when got it and now it 3 inches. Tang is 3-5 inches at start and hasn't really grown. Hopefully it does but not too much.

but it’s the only possible tang you should even think about.

Yesterday I went to my LFS to get some CUC, but just a minimal amount, got 2 astraea snails, two blue/red leg hermits, 2 other snails forgot what they were called, and a miscellaneous Coral they had for $20, it had some very small Octospawn heads on it, about 8. Thought it was a great deal. But it also had some bubble algae on it, and I'm waiting for my emerald crab to notice them to eat the algae.

Today the Blastomussa detached from the skeleton, because the urchin started to eat its skeleton in an attempt to clean it. Believe it is going to die. Any suggestions on a way to help it survive. If it doesn't, I will probably turn the rock it is on into a mushroom garden.

Got an anemone and Pulsing Xenia on saturday, looking nice and happy. Love the new anemone because it gives a contrast to all the green I have in the aquarium, and looks really nice next to my Branching GSP.

It’s been a while since i have posted here, I have a hard time keeping this up to date, but I recently got a bunch of corals and I just took pictures of the whole tank. Also just got a Midas blenny.
Last two pics have the blenny. Also pics might be a bit squished because of how they uploaded

I believe so, but whenever I look at pics of other white zombies it doesn’t look the same. I’m not sure why. It also has pretty large polyp size compared to normally. Polyps are about the size of between a penny and a dime

So now one of my white zombie zoas is basically turning black, it is half normal and half black but it still has a little bit of color on the tips. But it is still alive and thriving so I don’t know what is causing that. I will add a pic later tonight but right now it’s closed up so can’t get a pic of it

Ok so the zoa finally opened, and it has spread to another zoa, and the one that is more to the left that has the black markings lost about half of its skirt, but it doesn’t look like melting and it is a clean line. What could cause this?

Are there any specific pests I should look for? I don’t think I have any zoa spiders, but I do have bristleworms, I think, and some kind of pods.

Zoa spiders, zoa nubibranch, and sundial snails. Otherwise could be fish nipping at them.

From my experience, leave out the GSP, pulsing xenias, zoas (unless on a separate rock), and BTAs. They all take over/spread and kill other corals. I thought they were great at 1st, and now, two years fight weekly to get rid of them. Wish i would have been warned (or paid attention to) at start. I have a 45 gal custom AIO. You'll enjoy your Midas. Fire shrimp are a fun addition. Be patent as takes a lot longer for the tank to mature than expected. Just thoughts. Enjoy!!

So, bad news, but today, at around 2 am. My air conditioner went out. I am currently using handheld fans to cool the tank off. I usually keep it at around 76 degrees, but it is raised to 80 degrees right now. Don't have a chiller. Also am making RODI ice cubes to help cool of the etank if it gets too hot.

If helps, i use frozen water in gatorade bottles in the summer. No air conditioning in the house (vermont). Swap 2-3 every few hours on really warm days. And place a fan nearby. Helps to keep the temperature almost reasonable.

Will look into these, thanks. Don’t think it is a fish as all but one is in quarantine. It could be sundial snails, as I have some snails that look somewhat similar to it, but not exactly, about how big do they get?
