Hi I posted this in dry goods 4 sale. But maybe should have posted here as well for those w/3d printers.

I made this using a 3D printer I built from kit and modified that I received over x-mas. Some in my local reefing group found useful so thought I would share. It is available on Thingiverse.

I thought it was pretty clear what it is for. But I guess if you've never packed your own DI cartridge (or made your own expresso :D).then it may not be clear. So I'll explain.

The tamper is to pack DI resin more tightly into the DI cartridge. Usually when people pack DI cartridge, they just tap the cartridge against the table and let gravity do its work. It turns out this technique never as packs the cartridge as what you may get when you buy a pre-packed DI resin cartridge. The tamper is used to push on the resin when it is filled to the top to compress it more allow for a more tightly packed DI resin refill.

I have never lived somewhere where DI was required. Right now my water is incoming at 23-24 TDS and after the RO is zero.

It may be an indicated 0 but RO by itself is only a 90-98% efficient device so 0 is impossible. With such low tap TDS you are probaly below the 2-3% of full scale accuracy of your meter but there is still TDS there. Then there are things RO is not particularly good at removing and are weakly ionized so may not even show up on a hobbyist grade TDS meter such as silicates, nitrates and phosphates and that require DI to polish off. Even with low TDS I would still use DI if you are serious about reefkeeping.

I began reefing in 1996. Is that serious?
