After a few years of hiatus I am back into the hobby. I decided to do things a bit slower this time and not rush into things like my previous 2 tanks. Especially since I finally got my wife on board (makes a world of a difference).
I’m hoping to follow the WWC/BRS hybrid method throughout the first year of the tank. Trying to keep things as simple as possible so I don’t feel trapped to the tank. Also because we are expecting our first child in a couple months. Some might say it’s bad timing while I say it’s the perfect time!
The tank came in very well packed. I was incredibly surprised. Nothing in that box was moving that's for sure. It took 1 1/2 hours to put the stand together by myself. I made a time lapse video of me putting it together.
The tank itself wasn't super heavy. It took 2 of us to get it up the stairs and into my home office. For placement it's going right by my desk since I work from home full time. It's going to be real nice being able to turn around and enjoy it. It was fairly easy putting in all the plumbing and getting it all in there. For now I just put together the skimmer, return pump and just placed them. I'm still going back and forth on removing the filter sock section and put in a roller. I'm sure I'll figure that out before I get the tank wet. I know people hate filter socks but I genuinely never minded them. I used to have a full weeks worth of them on my last tank so I just swapped them out every morning.
For now the tank will be primarily LPS/Softies with a couple higher end anemones (I absolutely loved my CSB). While that's the plan I know things always change therefore I'm trying to set myself up for success by not having to buy another set of lights. Same with the wave makers. It's more expensive to slowly upgrade as opposed to just waiting a little bit and getting the right equipment the first time. That's not always the case with changing things but that's my approach!
I would love some feedback with regards to my aquascape.
Without further ado...
