Those last pics are a 36 inch two lamp t5ho actinic but I also have two leds as mentioned above.
The t5 will come on two hrs before the leds come on and then shut off when the leds start up t5 will then come on as the led goes off and run two hrs at end of day .
I will be doing a mixed reef. Lps and softies. Possibly some sps down the rd. Acans shrooms an island of gsp duncans a scolly perhaps a clam later

So you have 2x t5 bulbs and the fluval LEDs x2?

I certainly would not put a sailfin Tang in a tank less than 6' long

Yes that is the setup three fixtures. Two led one “ two bulb” t5ho
T5 for sunrise sun set
Led for day time.

As far as the tang goes he’s up for debate.
I’ve kept them before in a 36 long tank and know some people keeping them in bio cubes. They do fine. Gets too big you just trade them in.

I had two of these from a hydroponic system I had.
I unhooked 40 percent of the leds and hung it under my tank. It should work really well. It worked on other things really well!
Took 2 drivers off line and reversed the fans to blow heat out the back of the stand

Ah ok. seemed like overkill but if you already got one then its a no brainer.

Yea had a brain storm while in the attic this morning. I was like hell I have a perfect fuge light in a box up here someplace . Got it out knocked out a few banks of diodes and off to the races!! Will definitely report on how it works.. it has great spectrum. Should definitely help keep algae out of the display.

Soo I cut it down one more driver. Now running at half the diodes. After letting it run over night it actually raised my temp in the system by two degrees. But it did form turf algae on the sump wall over night .

Yes very !! That’s with only the final bank of diodes. My thought is if I can blast the fugue with a light that is brighter and is of the proper spectrum for photosynthetic plants than the light on the display then in theory it should be the preferred area for algae to thrive.
