40 breeder return pump

Hey, I have a 40 breeder with a 20 gallon sump and need a new pump. It is lps dominated so I want to go on the lower side on the gph. Any help is greatly appreciated!

You don't want to exceed your overflow gph. What overflow do you have? I really like MAG pumps.....they last forever.....although energy hogs.

I have the same setup, and I just bought a speed wave dc3000 for a return pump. These dc pumps are dead silent and have 6 speeds to choose from at a high of 25w and 800gph. I have one on my skimmer as well, and am amazed by how well they work.

In a setup of this size I used a Danner Mag 5. It allows good turnover but low enough flow than I can control the total flow scheme with powerheads.
