The lights aren't bad for the money and as a starter but read the review where the guy says it doesn't fit right on his 40 breeder. Also I noticed theres NO fan/or venting. Trust me 4x 39w T5 get pretty dang hot :( So you'll wanna but a lil clip on fan to displace the heat away from the tank.

Well 4 t5s on a 40 is a little strong.
I think you should try and hang the lights higher above the tank then just with the light legs.

Just my 2 cents
 
I don't think there's an issue I just think it might be good to run it a little higher.

I've put my zoas under a cave and the look so much better under less lighting... Just a thought
 
Bulb choice makes a big difference as well. I ran a blue plus, purple plus, aqua blue special, and blue plus all from ATI.

Was in a nova slr fixtures sitting on he tank with the legs
