Agree that a 20 long is a good size.

Also, I don’t have baffles in my sump. I just leave it open. It give me lots of flexibility with adding and removing things. I’ve been doing that for over 20 years.

I used a 20 tall as my sump for 40 breeder, it left enough space for an ATO reservoir in the cabinet. I did not use baffles, it would have been too tight for me.

This is mine, I am still working on my wire management problem. The skimmer is bubble magus curve 5, the pump is sicce sdc 6 (which is overkill, but there were no smaller models available, and I didnt want to place an order and wait)

Many people use baffle kits with some size tank. I think a 20 gallon long is a good recommendation.

I know many people set up baffles in their sumps to direct flow to different chambers with different functions. But you don't have to do it this way.

You can set up a 20 long without any baffles. Just install your equipment in the sump and be done with it.

Personally, I am for using a baffle system.
