Started in February 2020 with dry rock. We decided to go with that to avoid introducing any pests or a Mantis Shrimp (even though I kind of want one in it's own small tank). We recommend having a piece of acrylic instead of the lid that domes with this tank, original lid is rather annoying.

Filter is a Eheim Canister filter.
Light is a RedSea LED 90.
One 75watt heater and one power head.

Cycled with Dr Tim's and two clowns.

We ended up pulling the rocks forward so we could get to the glass better. In hindsight, I'll be more careful where I place rocks in the future.

We added corals about 2 months in. Struggled only with Zoas, everything else has had explosive growth.

I'll post current tank photo in a follow up comment. 20200229_150655.jpg

Some things I would change if I could go back. Rethink the rock work all together. Different LED with a wider range of colors. No sand sifter goby (digs up corals constantly). I'd say it's a great tank for a first go but I know what I wont do in the future. Thanks for checking out my build thread!

New addition! Blue Star Wrasse, supposedly expert only. Got it eating prepared food. Fingers crossed on it surviving. Named Monica!

Tank now after placing frags. Had to battle some nasty bryopsis first, flux nailed it, highly recommend. Lost my hammer to brown jelly and am currently nursing a LTA back to health, eating very well, just needs to color up.

Current issues:

Some Aiptasia - will get berghdia nudibranchs for them.

Unlucky for the hammer. Sorry to hear. I myself though my torch had brown jelly. Left him for dead in the tank... then suddently started coming back to life. I probably threw the towel too quickly, hope that is not what happened to you. What really changed it was when I started dosing nitrates and PO4 in the tank (they were reading 0).

I like your rock scape. Plenty of nice spots. I want to redo mine because I made the mistake of making too many cliffs.

Good job.

As toast toast. I didn't see any flesh left and I was battling so much at the time I just needed to accept its fate and move on.

Thank you! It's the only functional way we could think of with the pentagon shape tank.

People said I would hate the corner tank because of the views being obscured but it doesnt bother me at all. Let me know how yours goes!

Hey bro...hope all is well. My tank is going great. Lost some fish...few frags...but all in all its great! Love my corner...just wish it was bigger...like 150 ta 200 gals. My powder blue always swimming around super fast to get my attention so I can feed him again annoys my bigger corals like my bubble and whatnot....

Good luck to ya!

I have had some issues with diff stuff for sure but not algae outbreaks as of yet....knock on wood. Had a beautiful blonde nasso jump out of the tank due to the powder blue picking on him. They were soooooo close in size that I was hopeful maybe the blondey (as he was named-from the good the bad and the ulgly). Anyway he went into quarantine again and didn't make it back out... 140bux for a week. Thats a good lesson learned...
