This is what I was running prior to the change.

9-Radion G5 Pro's
2- 60" Reefbrite XHO's
2- 72" Reefbrite XHO's

About 2-3 months ago I pulled the middle 3 radions and put one of my old 400 watt halides in their place. A few of my radions started acting up and believe the UV chips aren't working properly. If I run any UV they turn off. If I leave the UV at 0% they work fine. Got tired of messing with these 800.00 lights. Pulled all the radions off and replaced them with halides.

Current lights:
3 - Hamilton Reflectors
3 - Reefbrite 400 watt ballast
3 - Radium bulbs
2 - 72" Reefbrite XHO's

I really like the look more. According to my wife it appears more natural. She wasn't a fan of the blue & honestly I don't think I enjoyed it either. Just went with the flow and trend I guess.

The halides make the fish look amazing.
The halides don't (pop) the corals like a led.
But the XHO's take care of that in the AM and PM.

Current schedule
Reefbrite on at 8:00am to 12:01
Halides on at 12:00 - 7:30
Reefbrite on at 7:29 - 10:00

The small frag tank still has a radion XR30 G5 above it getting me my blue fix if needed. Lol

I will say the outside of my home doesn't appear blue anymore. Kinda strange looking at the house the windows almost look green instead of blue. I can still see some blue but looks more greenish white.

Very cool! However, it’s now challenging for your potential new reefers driving down the neighborhood and couldn’t find you & your blue lights! ha

Guess now it’s ok during the winter months with free heating but what are your plans during the summer months? Got a chiller handy?

Haha. Yeah my wife wasn't a fan of the smurf front porch look. Lol

When I had the halides over the tank initially to my surprise a fan blowing across the surface of the water worked great. Just evaporated a lot. I do have a chiller that I haven't used in 10 years. It's a old 1 hp Teco chiller if needed.
