Hey all.
After only posting a hello the other day I managed to stumble upon a gem.
I initially only went to buy the sump tank for £50 as a starter as it seemed to be a steal. Only to sit and make a new friend over a few cups of tea.
Anyway long story short new friend was so happy the sump was going to someone who had big plans and with a promise of allowing visits and sending pictures of the build........I walked away with pretty much a whole marine setup.....NO extra cost!!!!
Now it is older equipment and as such a few of the bits don't work anymore but for mostly free I cannot complain.
I ended up with;
3x2x2 340L tank.
110L Sump tank.
Jaebo 10000 return pump.
Maxspect R420R lights.
UFO skimmer. Wires broken so untested until repaired.
Calcium Reactor
2 smaller media reactors.
PH803, PH/ORP probe set (Untested).
Broken and (very tingly in the water) Heater and thermostat.
Vectron V2 (Untested).
3 Packs of plastic BioBall type things.
And 4x 5gallon buckets of dry Fiji liverock (was live until he shutdown his tank).
Absolute Bargain.
I cannot believe my luck with this and I thanked new friend about 300 times before carting it all off in my car.
I have spent the last 6 hours assembling it the best I can and getting it running with straight RO water just to rinse off and clean everything up a bit. I will leave the rock cooking for 2 weeks and then do a 100% water change and good rinse off the rock.
Probably do another 2 weeks of straight RO water just to make sure any nasties are truly deaded, before another 100% water change and rinse, then fill with salt water and start dark cycling the tank.
That gives me until the end of the month to fix up the ancient pipework, buy a heater and get skimmer fixed and tested, purchace some of the many test kits i will need and generally sort it out a bit.
