We're building a 4x8 frag tank for my son. I've always used kessils and t5 as supplemental for my display and frag tanks. If you were building this tank for a mixed reef grow out tank, how would you light it and why?

Thanks!

Dave

Their are many types of lights to use today and you will get many different suggestions as you well know.

My 48x24x16 growout runs 4 xr15 gen5 blues with good results.

Also remember this my 16" tall growout system has a 1.5" rack system and the distance from the rack to the surface is only 12.5".
I get 220 par on the top of the rack
At 12.5" deep.
I also run a quanta pro blue bar for an extra 100 par.

Thats just from a radion perspective and gives just one example.

Are you mounting on the tank, from above as their are many options?

If I was setting that tank up as a growout I would look at Reefbreeders and some blue bars mounted in a hybrid rack.
This is my 80 so you have some reference.

I'll probably hang some type of track to put them on. Thanks for the response! I'm just looking for ideas while we start this project. I expect I'll probably hand 4 ap9x over top of the tank if I don't see anything in the responses that make me change my mind.
