4ft 150g vs 6ft 125

So I've been on the hunt for an upgrade to my 55 reef. I had planned on a 6 ft 125 or a bowfront at least 72g. The problem is my buddy if offering me up his 4 foot 150g tank stand and canopy for $250. $320 with the 40b sump and a dc6000 for 89 bucks. I'm not sure if I can pass it up. What's the advantage of a 6 foot tank over a 4ft?

Well length. One thing to consider is depth. Aquascaping in a 18" wide 125 is tricky. How deep is the 150? If it is 24" it opens your possibilities up.

Pretty much the only advantage of a 6' tank, is going to be if you want a tang, other than that, more water volume is always great

My 150 is the exact same dimensions, I could do a lot 'scape wise but the 30in depth made moving things on the sand bed difficult... As far as tangs, I kept zebrosoma species and a blue hippo just fine, but did not try any larger species, my rock work was centered in the tank and had plenty of open space between it and the water's surface so they swam laps and then some in the tank...

I have the 150 same dimensions you stated and love it. So many possibilities for scaping with 30" depth.

I have a 155 (72X24X21) which is perfect to me for this range tank size. Easy to reach the bottom, wide enough for easier aquascaping and easier to light than a deeper tank. That said with your two options I'd pick the 150. The extra width over the super narrow 125 is the clincher. You can still have a bristle tooth tang and I think they may be the most interesting tang genus any way.
