(I have decided not to do a DSB, but still moderately deep so that I can make some fish that dig and burrow happy)

Some sand is here [emoji14]

2x each

I can't decide whether or not to layer it, or just mix it in. Any opinions? :)

I assume you picked the different sands for certin reasons. If it was for color, when you nix it all together it will all be white and black. I think it would look cool layered but you might not be able to see the layers with just few bags of each. Suppose you could do sections of each. ( black on left, black and white center, and white on the right) might look cool. Hope this helps some.

Looking forward to the future of your tank. It is coming along nicely.

Thanks! I thought of that too :3 someone said it would look tacky, but someone else saying it is an idea is enough for me [emoji14] I still have more sand to get yet, but which sand I get depends on how I end up putting it in. Layered really is the best sounding one so far. Plus it will end up mixed down the line by the inhabitants anyway. Thanks for the reply, it's super helpful!

Oh and so far that is about 120lb so far. I love the idea of it being mainly black, so that is weighing on my decisions aha

you might be able to do light in front and darker as you go back, will give the illusion of greater depth. Main problem is that eventually it will all be mixed and you won't be able to tell the difference

I can work with mixed end result. That gives me an idea though, seeing as I prefer the darker substrate, I could put the white at the back and dark at the front! Completely the opposite of your idea, but thanks [emoji28]

Welcome aboard [emoji1]

As for progress;
I have worked out the end of my fallow period to be the 30th of april. I will be away at that point, so maybe the 1st or 2nd of may instead [emoji14]

I am probably going to buy either a Kole Tang or Magnificent Foxface (or both) this week. Well, if they are still at work. Then again, I'll always have an eye out for anything special on the order lists too ;)

I do want an engineer goby, and someone has one up for free near me as it is outgrowing his tank. Should I? Or should I wait and try for a pair of IP ones? His is 12-15cm

I ended up getting what I think is a "Goldstripe Wrasse" Halichoeres zeylonicus. It has a bacterial and seems a bit off, but meds are ready, just awaiting the approval of the fish doctor team on when/how to dose. It's super pretty though!

So we had a power outage and I put a bit of prime in with the QT treatments to help with ammonia and killed all the fish but the Toadfish.
