Everyone is getting along! Frogfish is eating well, by ways of I put food pieces in front of it and it watches it for a while then eats it. So that's fine by me!

Update: I picked up a nem that someone needed to find a new home for, and am no longer worried about the frogfish eating things really. It seems happy to sit under a rock and not be bothered. I have no issues with feeding it, and it stays nice and plump :)

The hawk however, ate so well at work, and now won't touch anything :/

A few updates that have happened [emoji14]

I got a dottyback with a currently unknown ID but possibly Labracinus cyclophthalmus.

I had the frogfish well fed but it still taste tested the dottyback and then spat it out to eat a lance fish instead. Win, heart attack, but win.
The dottyback is fine though and is getting along splendidly with the hawkfish.
The hawkfish which has killed at least 3 yellow tangs in the shop and who knows what else.

I moved the frogfish and his rock to my biggest section of the sump in order to not chance it with my next additions.

4 cute to boot domino damsels that looked bite size, which took up residence in the green bta straight away! They are super adorable!

Then a customer at work gave me a small light green carpet nem for $50 which I see as a win. (He gave me a trigger worn hammer that the nem was pretending to be a part of for free too) Hopefully the damsels find that because next week I'll be taking his crispa off him and possibly adding a pair of Amphiprion akindynos clowns.

There is also a "disabled" crab that I caught which is part of the future cuc plan. Two spined burrowing crab. Matuta planipes.

I also picked up a black cucumber which is pretty small, and down the line I have my eyes on a bigger one [emoji14]

So soon I will be picking up some more rock from a tank shut down for really cheap. The only catch is that it is absolutely infested with aiptasia. Buuut in my other tank I have an incredibly greedy matted filefish who I feel would love it. Thoughts? Shall I give him an upgrade or test him out with it first? I only had 1 individual aiptasia in that tank previously, but have had a copperband butterfly and 2 pep shrimps I caught in there as well as him, so I'm not too sure who ate it. But I wouldn't put it past him [emoji14]

Just my experience but I hated having eggcrate and sand. The sand that falls into the squares, does not get moved by you or the sand suffers. Over time it really packs in there. You are using two eggcrates so that's double layer of sand being hard as a rock .
Many people use eggcrate. If I used sand again, I would use 1/4 inch acrylic sheet under the rocks. You can silicone it in place if you are worried about things getting under it

Oh nono, just 1 layer of it. I am attempting to use it to avoid having to glue my rocks down, as I may have to rescape for aggression purposes every now and then [emoji14] thanks for the insight though! Hopefully my crabs will help with that [emoji14]

This is a really interesting build! I am sorry about the hawkfish, he was a cool fish! :( Can't wait to see this all set up.
Thanks! It is a huge shame, but I will get another. Welcome aling for the journey!

I think I may be picking up some sand tomorrow. I have ordered:

3x red sea ocean white
2x caribsea bahamas oolite
2x caribsea tahitan black (possibly? The black and white style one)
2x caribsea Hawaiian black
I also have half a bag of bahamas oolite sitting around that I haven't decided what to do with yet [emoji14]

All 20lb bags.
Thoughts anyone?
