I have a 50 gallon planted, mixed reef and using triton method/solutions (not core 7). I have 5 small fish and a 6 gallon refugium in the sump. A few LPS, SPS and many softies. Several large gorgonia. Tank is 1 year old. ICP Water testing has been within a good tolerance and I’m getting good hard coral growth and clear water. In order to maintain Alk around the recommended 8, I’ve had to up my dosing to 120ml per channel. This seems excessive to me considering they recommend staring at 20 ml per channel and my total system volume is just under 60 gallons. At this rate, I’ll be spending my entire monthly hobby budget on triton solution. What is YOUR total system volume and daily dose?

I have an 80g frag tank full of SPS only pulling 28ml. I’m using “other methods”.

Thanks, I think you must be using the 7 series. I use the diluted stuff that you mix to 10 liters of water for each solution, so it recommends 10 times that dosage, or 20 ml, to start. So for me the 17ml equivalent would be 170 ml. thank you this is helpful.

It does help... I’m trying to understand what “normal” consumption should be for my tank. If your tank is pulling in 50 ml equivalent more than mine per day and has quite a bit more coral, this makes sense. Not the cheapest solution out there, but after a year of triton I can say my tank has never been so consistently producing results.

I love triton , my tank is amazing on it .. but for me if I get too using 1 set or more a month I will think about a calc reactor.. at 17 ml per day I get 58 days out of 1 set .. that’s how I look at it ...
