Finally got my dream tank. Going to take awhile to get this up and running but I want to make sure everything is perfect thing time around instead of rushing like my others

Congratulations on the new adventure!

Currently what I’m planning is
Light - Nicrew 200 W gen 2
Return - AI axis 40
Power heads, 2x Nero 5 and one orbit 2
Skimmer - tunzee shark 300
Roller - isealive roller mat
Heater - IM helio 200w smart heater

A lot of nice equipment! That seems like a lot of flow for a 50g. You will also have the flow benefit from the return pump especially if you add a RFG. Are you planning on an SPS acro tank? Are you planning to mount the orbit horizontal or vertical? Depending on the plans for the tank, you could shift some of the budget from power heads to lighting.

My thought process is that I currently have the 25 gal lagoon (pretty much the same tank just mini) and I have an orbit 2 horizontal on one end and a Nero 3 on the other. It seems to work perfectly for me. The orbit gives a nice steady flow to the whole tank and I can move/ adjust the Nero as needed. So hopefully I’ll be able to do something similar with the 50. I actually already have the light so that’s why I ended up using that. And it’s probably going to end up a heavy lps tank with some Zoas, shrooms and acros

I like to go heavy on the rock and I’ve noticed at least for me I like having more sources of lower flow than one source of high flow. And I’m a sucker for being able to control all my tanks from the same app

And it’s cycling!!
Not the final rock scape. Just figured I’d get it started before the rest came in

Has anyone ever stuck their heater under the rear baffle in their tank? I wonder if it will get enough flow

I used to run this tank and that area isn't great for a heater. I stuffed a bag of bio media under each side to create a low flow cryptic area and that worked well. I left the black adhesive on though so it was dark down there. Looks like yours has been peeled off.
