50 inch 4K LCDTV advice please

I am in the market for 1 of these "small" 4K LCDs. I have 43x25 area but not totally a fixed available area. 55 inch will be a bit too big and who buys a 40 inch LCD as my 46 inch is too small already..... the 49 inch LG seems to fit OK....I have not shopped for TV for the last 2 -3 years....
I quickly look at these 2
LG (49UH6090) : 49" 2160p 4K LED Smart TV

ummm. there really is not that much 4k available I would not worry about that marketing strategy. it uses a device to upscale the 440 720 or 1080 to 4k.
so its not actually a 4k image really as an HD channel only has to broadcast it in 720 to be HD.
any of the LGs are good. Im a sony and toshiba guy myself.
Im also a former member of the american cinematographers guild as a digital imaging technician.

I personally because I'm cheap would go with a 1080 from any of those manufacturers with the other connectivity options I like(hdmi:D) that fits the space best and save money for my tank and cable bill.

I love my LG 1080p 3D TV. If it died, I'd get a 4k 3D though...another LG. Love the passive 3D

2 or 3 years ago I got my dad 1 of those 60 inch LG 1080p 3D TV from the black Friday deal and it had/has some issue with the 3D and blu ray movies. There are some pause and glitch here and there....Other than that it is OK. Still working.

I think LG makes ok TV. Samsung is better but they tend to charge a bit more for the exact same feature list/size

How about the smart features and turn on time? the smart TV takes a bit longer to boot.

I don't use any of the smart features, use a Roku 4...much better than any smart TV. Booting up takes about 30 seconds though (that includes locking on wifi). With just my roku and not going into the smart features, less than 5 seconds. Have never had a 3d glitch.

It will be on the wall like a picture frame....I will have a chrome cast for stuff but nothing else will be connected..maybe an antenna..but that is not really needed at the moment

If cost isn't a factor, get the Samsung UN49KS8500FXZA. If cost is a factor and you're just planning on just using it for watching tv and the features aren't of concern, I would suggest just getting a 1080p flat screen. Visio, Samsung, and LG are good brands. Sharp is ok on the budget.

Maybe I should just stay with 1080P. They are dirt cheap nowadays and the 50 inch LCD, the 4K will not make much of a difference since they are "small" :-)

To me, a 4k LCD or LED just isn't worth the cost right now. Yeah they have dropped a lot, but there isn't enough 4k content for me to fully enjoy it.

Additionally I have never been a fan of LCD or LED TV's; I'm still running Plasma. The colors are washed out, they have no blacks, and the refresh rate looks weird to my eyes.

The OLED TV's look great though, and by the time my Plasma dies.... they will be at the right price point :)

There are still a few standards issues going on with 4k and while they think these will be resolvable via software, the buzz is that won't be the case (there is an apparent hardware problem with the hdmi interface). This and the fact that there is very little 4k content really says wait until next year.

I never have/had a plasma TV. I am trying to be green....... I have seen many plasma TVs and I agree the black is nice, but LCD is also very close to that performance specially the newer ones (made within the last 4-5 years). Maybe my eyes are not as good as my nose, so to me the difference is minimal.

I have a 70" Vizio 4K tv and I absolutely love it. Is there a ton of 4K content....no, but once you stream it through Netflix and watch something in 4K you'll be hooked. And for the money Vizios offer a lot of bang for your buck in the 4K tv segment.

I have a 55" lg oled 4K curved TV and love the picture definitely worth the money when you turn on vudu or Netflix and watch something in 4K hdr

The problem for me is I have an actual theater in my house with a 12 foot screen. My projector is 1080 with bluray as the source. I will upgrade the theater to 4k 3D when the prices are down under $2k for the projector.

Once you watch movies on a 12 foot screen, you can't go back to 60". Realistically, if you measure your "home theater" in inches, you don't have a home theater.
