Hey guys

I have an AquaUV 57 watt UV on my 50 gallon total volume tank.

It's plumbed off a manifold that stems off the return pump and dumps back into the sump.

I've had it on 24/7 since February 2023 when I started the tank.

Tank is still going through the uglies

Do you guys think this UV is just too big?

Should I cut it down to 12 hour days?

I have a hard time growing pods in this tank.

thanks

Well any UV is going to render your pods sterile. I don't think you can have a too big UV, you can adjust the flow rate. But you can have on too small. In order for Pods and UV to coexist you need someway to bypass the UV, the problem with that is, that kind of defeats the purpose of a UV. You can have a refugium before the UV and let you pods breed in there, but after they leave they will become sterile.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
