I'm looking to upgrade to six foot tank and looking for suggestions on lighting. Right now I have a photon. 48 for my 4 foot tank. I'm not sure if I should get The photon 50 for the six foot tank

Happy with orphek atlantik, probably need 2 for 6' tank. Or start with 1 and get a 2nd later if desired.

You’re using a reefbreeders photon 48 correct?
if so your in the same position as I am. I expect my new 180 gallon which is also a 6’ tank any day now. I have a reefbreeders photon 48 and plan to get a 24” to mount together for full coverage.

I've been looking at the Orphek Atlantik vs Neptune SKY for my 6 foot tank. Anyone like the Neptune SKY?
I know some one who has the sky units and he loves them- he still though cant justify the price for the amount of LEDs it has. I run only Orpheks and with no regrets

I have a photon 48 over my marineland 125. Very bad shadows in the corners. I’ll probably switch to 3 smaller lights - radions or hydras. Just a little pricey for me

I have a 6’ tank lit by 4 Radion XR30’s. Prior I had 360x Kessils and prior to that, 360x’s with T5. I ditched the T5’s due to head injuries.

I have used most brands and made my own as well and I always go back to Radion. They grow coral the best for me and have been reliable.

I would say that Kessil’s despite frequent cleaning only made it 2 years and then they all died within 60 days of each other.

I will be ordering a 7’ x 24” tank this week or next and I do plan on adding some Kessil 500’s to it in between the radions (but don’t tell my wife. She’s salty 4 lights died right outside warranty). I think they should last longer at 60% vs the 360’s that I had at 100%. The shimmer is amazing.

I am putting a 210 in a sushi bar, I went with 3 ai 32hds. Future hopes of a radion system but at this point I'm trying to get the doors open! I have a build thread...

The 50 wouldn't accomplish anything. If you like the 48 Photon, you have considered adding a 24, right?

At the prices of led's I'm looking towards ai 32hd they're about the cheapest. I'll keep looking in the dry goods for sale here to see if I can catch someone selling any

4 32's should work well.
I run 4 16hds on my 36" system.
If you like a halide look you can come close to it with the 32's.
Here is my 4' lit by 4 xr15 blues.
The 30g remote is lit by 2 16hds for a reference on looks.

I have a 50 inch photon on a 5 foot tank mounted 19" above the water and the ends don't get enough light. Like others have suggested add a 24" photon to what you already have, or go with a different light.
