So my freshwater 60 keeps getting parasites, first a few months ago ich, then last week gill flukes and now ich again. Trying to manage everything and now i dont know why. Any ideas?

How long did you go between when you first seen ich until now? With ich the tank needs to sit fallow( fishless) for 72 days before reintroducing fish again. All fish should go through a QT for ich and flukes before hitting the display tank.

Been around 3-4 months since i last saw the ich

Also dont have a quarantine tank
It’s playing with fire when not QTing fish. They look healthy at the LFS and eat great and then we put them in the DT then bam ich. I would highly suggest QTing fish from now and going forward if you have the room. If not ich management is going to be your best option.

Yeah i dont plant on adding anymore fish but thx. What medication should i use? I know that melafix is advertised to work for gill flukes, but my LFS owner told me to use Metro plus. Either way I’m going with accurel knockout IP to treat the ich. Are betta fry okay with medication...?

As for flukes Prazipro can be dosed in DT tank to remove flukes. It is a reef safe product to an extent of not over dosing. Also when dosing Prazipro I would tilt the power heads more towards the surface for more O2 exchange

Ill dose it straight to the tank

Unfortunately a planted tank is not much different than a reef tank when it comes to medications. Other than removing fish and treating them outside, I don't know of any effective freshwater medications that are plant safe.

I personally have not had any luck....without melting some plants. If you aren't adding new fish, and ich keeps returning, whatever medications are being used I would assume aren't strong enough.....which is what I ran into. Now if you keep getting the parasite because you are adding non QT fish, than ignore my entire post lol.

I have a freshwater aquarium tank with plants an a bunch of fish. A couple fish showed got ick. I raised temp up to like 80 over a couple days an put aquarium salt in the tank ‍♂️ Not saltwater tank salt that was a few months ago. No signs since.

Lucky. After 82 temp for a few days along with the general cure, API aquarium salt, Prazipro, and accurel, still no difference to the gill flukes Or ich but all fish seem to be alive

QT and 76 day fallow are the only things that will remove ich from the DT. It has to be starved out without a fish host. Put the fish through TTM and then into an observation tank until fallow is complete. Fallow is also a really good time to load up on inverts

Thx for the reply man, but I’ve got literally no other tank big enough for all of them. Any medication you could recommend to me?
